What is Gluten Free?

Gluten is the protein part of wheat, rye, barley, and other related grains. Some people cannot tolerate gluten when it comes in contact with the small intestine. This condition is known as celiac disease (sometimes called non-tropical sprue or gluten sensitive enteropathy). Special care is necessary when checking product ingredient lists since gluten comes in many forms. According to US market trends, gluten free products are projected to more than double in sales in the next five years because of the increasing interest in this category. Even individuals not carrying the intolerance to gluten
are switching to a gluten-free diet because of the health benefits. 

When creating new gourmet food products, our Product Development Team keeps in mind the varying diets of our customers, which is why the majority of our items (approximately 86%) are gluten free.
