Glazed Pears

A wonderful side dish featuring pears glazed with Honey Chipotle Preztel Dip.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Port wine
  • 3/4 cup Apple juice
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Robert Rothschild Farm Honey Chipotle Pretzel Dip
  • 2 Bosc pears
  • Vanilla or butter pecan ice cream
  • Directions
    1. In a large saucepan, stir together the wine, apple juice, sugar and Honey Chipotle Pretzel Dip over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved.
    2. Cut bosc pears in half and then slice a little off the outside to form a flat surface. Core out the middle of the pears with a melon baller. Place pears, with the cored out side down, in the bottom of a roasting pan. Cover with wine sauce.
    3. Roast in 375 degrees F oven for 35-45 minutes until pears are tender. Baste with sauce while roasting. Remove pears from roasting pan and place on a plate using the flat side to keep level. Boil remaining liquid over high heat to reduce and thicken.
    4. Spoon a scoop of ice cream into core of pear. Drizzle reduced wine sauce over ice cream and serve.
